Beneath the Surface

South Ari Atoll is home to some of the Maldives’ most remarkable marine life, and the festive season brings plenty of ways to experience it. Head out on Whale Shark Snorkelling or Manta Quest excursions, or take your first steps beneath the surface with beginner-friendly scuba experiences. Guests can also get involved in reef clean-ups or support Nova’s coral restoration efforts through the Coral Garden Sponsorship, planting a coral frame with guidance from the marine team.

The garden continues at the table, where every meal becomes part of the festive story. At the heart of the season is Nova Sora Umi, an exclusive Japanese dining experience. Inspired by the timeless connection between the sky and the sea, this seasonal highlight celebrates refined craftsmanship, premium seafood and beautifully presented flavours above the ocean. Eskape Spa draws on touch, scent, sound and mindful movement, from Reiki and Ayurvedic warm oil rituals to hand-crafted herbal potlis made with fragrant spices. Christmas Eve brings the Ananda and Soma Nāda Sound Journey beneath the Cold Moon, while sunrise Surya Namaskara sessions invite a more energising start to the day. Together, these experiences offer a quieter way to move through the season, with moments of stillness woven between celebration.

Celebrate Together

The festive season begins on 19 December with Nova’s Christmas Tree Lighting and carol singing. Gather with our Soulmates for an evening of shared celebration and the first bloom of The Garden Within, setting the mood for the days ahead. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day continue with festive feasts and joyful gatherings, including the Grand Holhuashi, inspired by the traditional Maldivian meeting place where communities come together to share stories, music and time together.

As the year draws to a close, the celebrations build towards New Year's Eve with live music, beach fire shows and island festivities before the countdown begins. Welcome the new year beneath a sky illuminated by fireworks at midnight, then dance into the early hours with live performances from Supremacy, The Kabans, DJs and lively evenings at Wink.
