FAQ – Nova Diving
Why choose Nova for diving?
Nova is located at the heart of the best dive sites of South Ari atoll. With a short boat trip, you can explore multiple sites, giving divers more time to enjoy activities during their stay. With easy access to the house reef and the shallow lagoon, Nova is the perfect spot for a beginner to start diving. Some common sightings include eagle rays, schooling jacks, soft corals, napoleon wrasses, sea turtles, sting rays, different kinds of sharks and the majestic whale sharks and manta rays seen all year round.
Can we dive all year round at Nova?
Yes, you can dive at Nova during any time of the year.
When is a medical certificate mandatory to dive?
If the participant is presently taking any prescribed medication or if they are above 75 years, we require a written release from a medical doctor. However, we recommend that all divers through their yearly medical check to be sure that an individual is fit for diving.
Which organization is Nova dive centre affiliated with?
We are a PADI dive centre
What kind of dive courses are provided at Nova?
We provide all levels of PADI courses, from Bubble Maker to Dive Master, with a variety of specialities to choose from.
Are the dives guided at Nova?
Yes, to ensure the best diving experience, all our dives are guided by professionals.
What is the minimum age for diving and getting certified?
The minimum age for diving is 8-9 years. They can join the PADI course Bubble Maker – a short dive to a maximum depth of two meters on our beautiful house reef, where the kids are introduced to the underwater world. The minimum age to get certified is 10 years.
Do I need insurance for diving?
Yes, it is mandatory for all divers to have valid dive insurance before taking part in a dive at Nova. Any diver without a dive insurance can purchase the DAN Short Term Diving Insurance through us, which is valid only in the Maldives.
